This mural was the first thing I saw when I arrived in Deming. After the long drive from Chinle, AZ I considered it a friendly greeting from my new home.

during good floods, the water from around that area can come pretty close to filling the overpass(we have no really good drainage system around here), if the art is damaged, it is always fixed back in place :).

Where does the water come from? Rain?

yup, it sometimes only takes an inch or so to start flood conditions here. if it comes slow and steady there is gen no problems as the ground soaks it up readily, if it comes in a torrent it runs.

Wow! I grew up in a river town and never experienced anything like you described. The monsoon season promises to be quite the experience for me here.

we generally don't get much rain at all, but sometimes it decides to make up for it. i think i've seen it flood about three times in the 8 years or so i've been here.
