I'm in the deep end and I find breathing underwater difficult. It's looking more and more like my web comic won't launch until sometime next year, as I'm still waiting for my password. Last night, my computer went crazier than HAL9000 and I thought my web comic career was over before it had even begun. My computer seems to be alright today. But I am a little gun shy and admit that I still fear hearing a mechanical voice sing Daisy. On the other hand, I'm really looking forward to hearing Ray Davies sing again. My cousin sent me an e-mail today informing me of tentative plans for an "Original" Kinks reunion. Ray, along with his brother Dave on guitar, Mick Avory on drums, and with Pete Quaife on bass plan to play together again next year for the first time since 1969. I am still unsure if they plan on recording or touring and I would hope that they intend to do both. I bought a Kinks box set a year or so ago and have since become a real fan, especially of the RCA years. I had seen them in the early 80's and had always liked them a whole lot. But listening to Muswell Hillbillies, Preservation Act 1, and Act 2 now, has given me a much greater appreciation for their music than I ever had before. Colin Upton (mini-comic king and the creator of Big Thing) has added me to his friends list on Live Journal. However, having just read his other friends posts on-line, I am left feeling "like a pair of brown shoes in a closet full of tuxedos" as the old George Gobel joke goes. They seem so much more intellectual and professional than I'll ever hope to be. Although, I am honored that Colin includes me in their company.
