zuma: jack lemmon as stanley ford

toth was canned from the film project, but he'd drawn up at least 10 weeks of continuity for the movie (starring jack lemmon). this looks to me a lot like toth artwork.

i remember seeing ford's sig in the funny papers when i was growing up but never got into the strip, so i googled him up to learn more about him and that was one of the links i found most interesting.

The way I understand it Toth's work was used only for promotion of the movie and actually ran in newspapers. However, the strips seen in the film itself are the ones drawn by Mel Keefer. Since this 8 page story is intended to be a SIMulacrum of the comic book "glamourpuss" wherein Dave Sim reproduces by hand panels of Alex Raymond’s work I've done the exact same thing here but have used the fictitious Stanley Ford's "Bash Brannigan" strip as a stand in for Raymond's own "Rip Kirby." For the sake of the parody I've chosen to present Ford as a real cartoonist much like the film "How To Murder Your Wife" did. If I ever publish "feminazi" as a mini comic I will definitely make a notation on all of this but until then and in the meantime I'm glad that at least someone is hep to what it is I'm trying to do.
