A tip of the hat to Will Eisner and Jack Cole.
A tip of the sword to both Frank Brunner And Joe Kubert as this drawing is based upon their cover art for "Howard The Duck #1" and "Tarzan #224" respectively.
Last week, I made a long post outlining my plans for the next few months. However, upon further reflection I have decided NOT to start a new web comic after all. I need to focus my undivided attention on "Jake Wilde" instead. I believe a new web comic would have been nothing more than an afterthought and wouldn't have been very successful as a result.
So, I have totally reversed my previous decision and now plan on continuing to post "Zinc Comics Weekly." My long "hiatus" will actually be nothing more than a two week vacation. I will have a new page online later this week and each week thereafter. Although, in an effort to get more "Weekly" readers I will be posting on Wednesday rather than Sunday. For the month of November, I will post a series of covers for comics that don't actually exist... yet. But if I ever draw the stories to go along with these covers they may get published someday and then again maybe not. After that, I will begin posting my new comic book "Jake Wilde" one page at a time until the story is complete.
After finally completing "Warlock Hotel" I needed a little time to think of what to do next and the idea of starting something completely different was as alluring as another woman. But in retrospect I love my wife and I love creating "Zinc Comics Weekly" as well. I am more than happy with things the way they are and have realized there is no reason to change anything. I want to thank my loyal readers for bearing with me and my ever changing plans. But I promise that starting next week I will shut up and draw. Hopefully, then things can get back to normal around here. Although, I may have to take a "hiatus" again from time to time over the course of the next year as personal problems loom on the horizon and I'm anticipating the coming storm.
Sadly, I've no new page to post tonight and I'm sorry to announce that "Zinc Comics Weekly" is officially on hiatus for the foreseeable future. I always used to pencil a story before I ever inked a single page of it and I am afraid that the "Warlock Hotel" finale may have suffered some by changing this modus operandi. That is the reason why I am returning to my tried and true method of working. I had originally intended to keep posting "Zinc Comics Weekly" for the rest of the year or until I ran out of stories to tell. However, the best laid plans don't always get you laid and sometimes plans change.
My plan now is to pencil the entire 24 pages of "Jake Wilde" before I open a fresh bottle of "Black Magic" and I'm still unsure if I'll ever post it on line as I plan to print it as an actual comic book sometime next year. But if my plans change you will definitely be the first to know. In the meantime, I will begin posting a brand new web comic both here and on Web Comic Nation next week and I hope you will at least check it out.
Also, for anyone interested, all of the stories from "Zinc Comics Weekly" will soon be available in a trilogy of digest sized "Zinc" mini comics from "Darshan Studios." I still have the original eight issues of "Zinc Comics" for sale too, as well as "Lost Toys Number Two," "Art & Life ( The Van Gogh Letters)," and the 24 hour comic flip book "Brian Payne's Two Days." So, just send me an email if you want to make a purchase. |
